Writer Isabel Allende discusses her new novel “A Long Petal of the Sea.”

Award-winning author Isabel Allende was forced into exile after her uncle, former Chilean President Salvador Allende, was overthrown in a coup. Her new historical novel "A Long Petal of the Sea" tells the story of a couple fleeing the 1930s Spanish Civil War. Allende tells Walter how writing helps soothe her own experience of exile and the pain of losing her daughter.
